Kathmandu-In a move to promote women’s self-employment and green technology, Barhathwa Municipality in Sarlahi has launched an initiative to provide electric three-wheelers (e-rickshaws) on rent to local women. The program aims to enhance economic opportunities while supporting eco-friendly transportation.
The municipality is collaborating with Alliance Private Limited and Porkhi Nepal to implement this project. As part of the initiative, women will receive free training on e-rickshaw driving and basic maintenance.
Women completing the training will have two options: rent an e-rickshaw from the municipality or receive financial assistance to purchase their own vehicle.
By introducing electric vehicles, the municipality also aims to encourage the adoption of sustainable transportation solutions. Women interested in participating have been urged to submit their applications within 30 days.
