Kathmandu – Japanese automotive giant Toyota has officially launched its third electric vehicle, the bZ3X SUV, in China. The model was developed through a joint investment between Toyota Research and Development Center and China’s GAC Group.

Based on GAC Aion V

Although branded as a Toyota, the bZ3X is primarily based on the GAC Aion V. The two models share similar dimensions, motor configurations, and drivetrain, but the battery technology differs. The five-door, five-seater EV measures 4,600mm in length, 1,850mm in width, 1,600mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,765mm. Toyota claims that 65% of the bZ3X’s parts are sourced from GAC suppliers.

Production and Demand

Manufactured in China, the bZ3X is a product of Toyota and GAC’s collaborative project. Within just one hour of opening sales, Toyota received over 10,000 orders, causing its server to crash due to high demand.

Toyota’s Presence in Nepal

In Nepal, CG Motors serves as the official distributor for GAC Aion-branded vehicles. The company has introduced multiple electric models, including the Aion Y and Aion V.

Given the growing demand for SUVs in Nepal, CG Motors launched the Aion V in the local market two months ago.

Aion V Specifications

The Aion V is slightly larger than the bZ3X, with a length of 4,605mm, width of 1,854mm, and height of 1,660mm. It features 185mm ground clearance and 19-inch multi-spoke aluminum wheels. The interior is designed for a premium experience, with leather seats equipped with heating and cooling functions.

Luxury variants offer a smart refrigerator and food warmer. A panoramic glass roof enhances the cabin’s openness. For safety, the model includes seven airbags.

The starting price of the Aion V in Nepal is NPR 6,499,000.
