Kathmandu – In the rapidly evolving world of digital commerce, Nepal’s small and medium enterprises (SMEs) have long faced challenges in managing online sales efficiently. Enter Blanxer Technology Pvt. Ltd., a homegrown tech startup that emerged from the real-life struggles of young entrepreneurs and is now revolutionizing how Nepali businesses build and operate e-commerce platforms.
Founded in early 2023 by 24-year-old tech enthusiast and entrepreneur Prashant Phuyal alongside his cousin and IT expert Kiran Neupane, Blanxer is a comprehensive digital solution designed to simplify online business management. What started as a personal problem during the founders’ own e-commerce venture has grown into a platform trusted by over 550 businesses across Nepal, streamlining operations and empowering entrepreneurs to thrive in the digital marketplace.
The Origin Story: From Wrapsy’s Growing Pains to Blanxer’s Birth
The journey began in January 2022 when Prashant, with his college friends Abhinav Sah and Jeevan Risal, launched Wrapsy, a mobile phone skin brand that quickly captured the Nepali market’s attention. Riding the wave of social media virality, especially on TikTok, Wrapsy experienced an overwhelming surge in orders. However, the team soon found themselves overwhelmed by operational chaos.
“We were managing orders manually on Google Sheets, struggling to keep up with customer inquiries, and dealing with unreliable delivery services,” Prashant recalls. “It often took us more than a week to respond to customers, and by then, many had lost interest.”
This experience exposed a glaring gap in Nepal’s e-commerce ecosystem: while demand for online shopping was booming, the tools to manage sales, customer communication, and logistics were inadequate or too complex for many small business owners.
Recognizing this pain point, Prashant and Kiran decided to build a solution that would automate and simplify these processes, giving rise to Blanxer Technology Pvt. Ltd. in January 2023.
What is Blanxer? A Blank Slate for Entrepreneurial Success
The name Blanxer is derived from the English word “blank,” symbolizing a fresh canvas where entrepreneurs can bring their ideas to life. The platform is designed to enable anyone—regardless of technical expertise—to create a fully functional e-commerce website within minutes.
Blanxer’s core offering includes:
-
Automated order management with real-time tracking
-
Integrated delivery logistics to streamline shipping and fulfillment
-
SMS notifications to keep customers informed at every step
-
User-friendly dashboards for easy product uploads and inventory management
-
No coding required, making it accessible to non-technical users
“Blanxer handles everything from order placement to customer notification,” explains Prashant. “This allows business owners to focus on sales, marketing, and product development without getting bogged down by backend complexities.”
User Experience: Simple, Intuitive, and Supportive
The platform’s design prioritizes ease of use. New users can register on Blanxer’s website and enjoy a 15-day free trial, during which they can build their store, upload products, and explore features without any commitment.
To assist users, Blanxer offers:
-
Step-by-step video tutorials accessible immediately after registration
-
A “Getting Started” guide that walks users through setup
-
Responsive customer support to resolve queries
“We want to make the onboarding process as smooth as possible,” says Prashant. “Our video guides and support team help entrepreneurs get their stores up and running quickly.”
When the trial period ends, users receive notifications prompting them to subscribe. Payment is made simple through QR code options, with flexible annual plans tailored to different business sizes and needs.
Affordable Pricing That Beats Custom Development
Blanxer offers three subscription plans priced at NPR 24,000, NPR 28,000, and NPR 48,000 per year. Compared to the high costs of custom website development and ongoing maintenance, these plans provide an economical alternative for startups and SMEs.
“Building a professional e-commerce website from scratch can cost many times more than our subscription fees,” Prashant notes. “Plus, we take care of all updates and maintenance, so users don’t have to worry about technical issues.”
Growing Team and Expanding Services
Starting with a modest investment of around NPR 1 million, Blanxer has grown into a dedicated team of 10 professionals based in Lokanthali, Bhaktapur. The team includes software developers, customer support representatives, and operations staff, all working to enhance the platform and serve clients effectively.
In response to user needs, Blanxer recently launched BlanxerSupply.com, a complementary platform providing essential packaging and shipping supplies such as thermal printers, barcode labels, and roll labels at discounted rates. This initiative helps businesses source affordable logistics materials, further simplifying their operations.
Additionally, Blanxer is developing a Point of Sale (POS) system to integrate offline retail sales with online stores. This feature will allow retailers who operate both physical and digital outlets to synchronize inventory and sales data seamlessly.
“Many Nepali retailers sell both online and offline,” explains CTO Kiran Neupane. “Our POS system will update sales and stock information in real-time across all channels, improving efficiency and reducing errors.”
Building Trust Through Uniform Checkout Experience
One unique feature of Blanxer-powered websites is a standardized checkout system. Customers shopping on different Blanxer-hosted stores encounter a familiar and secure payment interface, which has helped build trust and reduce cart abandonment.
“Our uniform checkout system has become recognizable among Nepali online shoppers,” says Prashant. “This consistency reassures customers and encourages repeat purchases.”
Looking Beyond Nepal: International Aspirations
While Blanxer’s primary focus remains Nepal’s burgeoning e-commerce market, the startup has begun exploring international opportunities. Interest has come from Nepali entrepreneurs living in countries like the USA, Australia, and Japan, who want to use Blanxer to sell products locally.
“We are currently studying the legal and technical requirements to expand our services internationally,” Prashant shares. “Our goal is to support Nepali businesses globally and tap into new markets.”
Recognition and Industry Accolades
Blanxer’s innovative approach has not gone unnoticed. The startup won the ICT Rising Star Innovation Award 2023 and was a Top 5 finalist in the NYEF Startup Awards 3.0, earning national acclaim for its impact on Nepal’s digital economy.
